THE USCF MADE AN OFFICIAL REQUEST TO THE MEXICAN CHESS FEDERATION REGARDING THE 6-MEDALS DUE TO TEAM USA AT THE NORTH AMERICAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

At 12:13 p.m. today, the USCF officially emailed a request to Mr. Raul Hernandez, President of the Mexican Chess Federation in order to have the six medals won by TEAM USA, and not awarded to any of the teams present at the closing ceremony, sent to the home office.

During the closing ceremony, due to financial cutbacks by the Sport's Ministry of Sinaloa, as stated by Mr Raul Hernandez in a meeting with the American, Canadian and Mexican head of delegation, promised that such medals would be sent to their personal addresses.

However, upon returning home and submitting my verbal report to the USCF via telephone, the USCF immediately emailed Mr. Raul Hernandez in a formal request to have the medals sent straight to their headquarters along with the FIDE rating report.

The email was warm and cordial as well as appreciative for the Mexican Federation having hosted the North American Youth Championship 2009.

A copy of the email was also sent to the Canadian Chess Federation as well, since TEAM CANADA did not receive the 4-medals they won at the same event.
