GM ALEXANDER ONISCHUK REPEATS AS MEXICAN NATIONAL CHESS OPEN CHAMPION IN MONTERREY, MEXICO WITH 8.5/9

To win any international open is hard enough, to win back to back international opens is almost impossible in today´s current chess world, yet that is exactly what American G.M. Alexander Onischuk accomplished during the Easter holidays in Monterrey, Mexico. In a field that included 252-players with 7-Grandmasters, 11-International Masters, along with 19-FIDE masters, GM Alexander Onischuk finished with 8.5/9.

The only half point that Onischuk surrendered was to Mexican GM Gilberto Hernandez.
